Getting a Library Card
ABOUT YOUR LIBRARY
- Proper identification is required to register for a library card. The first card is free. Replacement cards are $3.00 for an adult, $2.00 for juveniles.
- Parental/guardian signature is required for minors (under 18).
- Please bring your library card to check out books and to use the internet. Proof of identity may be requested if you do not present your card.
- Patrons are responsible for lost and damaged books.
- Children under age 10 must at all times be accompanied and supervised by an adult. Proper library behavior is expected.
- Computer user is a privilege; users must comply with the Computer Use Policy. Usage may be denied at staff discretion.
- Historical Collection Room visitors must follow the Room’s protocol. Courtesy for other visitors, materials, equipment, and Library staff is required and expected.
- The outside book box is for use during times when the Library is closed. Please return items to the desk during open hours.
- Audiotapes, CDs, DVDs, and videos may not be returned in the outside box at any time. You will be held liable for damages.
- Customer service is our top priority. Please contact the Library Director or Library Board of Directors with any concerns.
BORROWING PERIODS
New books – Nonfiction 2 wks: No renewals 2 book limit
New books – Fiction 2 wks: No renewals 2 book limit
Books 3 wks: 1 renewal for 2 wks
Audio Books 2 wks: 1 renewal Limit of 5
Videos (VHS-DVD) 1 wk: 1 renewal Limit of 5 per adult
You may renew eligible materials by phone. Call 719-846-6841 during our open hours.
NEW PATRON LIMITS
Two (2) items total per patron with no renewals for the first two months. Probation may be extended at Director’s discretion if items returned late.
ESTABLISHED PATRONS CHECKOUT
Adults 12 books maximum
Children 12 books maximum
Audio books 5 maximum
Check out of reference materials allowed at staff discretion.
FINES
Videos $0.25 per day
ILL’s $1.00 per day
Books and Audios $0.10 per day
Audiotapes, CDs, DVDs, and videos may not be returned in the outside box at any time. You will be held liable for damages. A one dollar ($1.00) fee is charged for each of the above items placed in the outside box.
No checkouts or library services with accumulated fines over $2.50
Books overdue for 3 months or more will be assumed lost; replacement charges will be assessed. Collection services may be used or legal action initiated at the discretion of the Library Director to recover costs or materials.
