Come get a library card today!

  • Photo identification is required to register for a library card
  • Please bring your library card to check out items. Proof of identity may be requested if you do not present your card.
  • You are responsible for the cost of lost or damaged books.
  • Children under age 10 must be accompanied by an adult. Please ask for a complete 'patron code of conduct.'
  • Historical Collection Room visitors must make an appointment one day in advance to use the room.
  • Service is our top priority! Please contact the Library Director with any concerns you may have.

Meet Your Librarians

Mallory - Library Director

Mallory is the Carnegie Public Library Director - our resident leader. Mallory has been at the library for almost 6 years. She sets the tone for the library to be a central community fixture, available to everyone.

She likes to hang out with her friends or around town, probably eating lunch at the Cafe or Tees Me Treat Me. Mallory is always available to listen and lend a helping hand.


Shawna - Circulation Specialist

Shawna is the Circulation Specialist. She takes care of the details that help the library run smoothly like managing patron accounts, and general circulation services. Shawna's been leading the library with heart for almost 17 years. Shawna runs the Homebound Library-By-Mail service

A Trinidad native, Shawna personifies the friendly and familiar feel of the town. Shawna's steady leadership is crucial to the success of the library.


Phyllis - Youth Services Specialist

Phyllis is the Children's Librarian. She schedules and implements all of the children's programs, including our annual  summer reading program. She joined the CPL team 6 years ago. After retiring from a teaching career, she loves that she can continue to instill the importance of reading to children and youth of our community.

She enjoys spending her free time with family and friends, and going for a daily walk.


Tom -  Teen/Adult Services Specialist & Trinidad History Room Coordinator

Tom Potter is our Trinidad History Room Coordinator and Teen/Adult Services Specialist, which means he schedules and implements programs for adults. He helps patrons find information about Trinidad's past, everything from Drop City to individual genealogy. He also runs various programs at the library, including Nostalgic Movie Night, and writes the quarterly newsletter.

Sierra - Cataloging/ILL Specialist

Sierra is the Cataloging/ILL Specialist. She works on ensuring the library's books are properly organized, both on our shelves and in the AspenCat system. She combs through patron requests for new items and stays up-to-date on new releases from popular authors.

Sierra makes it easy to find the item you're looking for, but if you can't find it on our shelves or the AspenCat system, you can count on her to find it for you. She may be the most quiet librarian but Sierra is crucial to keeping the library functioning smoothly.


Brian - Library Clerk

Brian's industrious and kind nature makes him a patron-favorite and he's always willing to help with any patron request. He's also in charge of labeling all the items in the library, making it simple for you to find what you're looking for.

Brian likes to listen to music and read in his free time. He's one of the longest-serving members of the Library team.


Karon - Library Clerk

Karon is the front desk clerk at the library and she is always willing to lend a helping hand, and help people find what they're looking for. She moved back to Trinidad a few years ago to be closer to children and grandchildren. She has been a kind and consistent presence at the library.

Karon's favorite book is "After the Fact" by Owen Herd. In her free time, she likes to travel and spend time with her big family.


Sarah - Library Tech Clerk

Sarah is the Library Tech Clerk. She plans technology-related programs, provides one-on-one technology guidance, and manages our social media. As technology rapidly expands, Sarah is excited about the future of digital and online resources available at the library.

Sarah is originally from Arkansas and enjoys cooking, practicing yoga and traveling. Her favorite book is "The Poisonwood Bible" by Barbara Kingsolver.
